Mr. Powell serves as the chief executive leader for our global forensic engineering, fire investigation, and environmental consulting services with operations in United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mr. Powell has nearly 30 years of management experience including leading multi-disciplined engineering consulting companies and has spent the last 14 years providing executive oversight for property and casualty insurance services businesses.
Mr. Powell previously served as President of Unified Investigations and Sciences, Inc., as Executive Vice President at Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., served in various progressively responsible positions in construction and commercial building services prior to his career in claims. He also serves multiple boards as a board director.
Mr. Powell holds a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, earned the LEED AP professional accreditation and the IAAI-FIT designation. He has been a testifying expert in numerous courts and jurisdictions. Mr. Powell has completed postgraduate courses in executive leadership, change management and strategy at University of Cambridge, IMD, Center for Creative Leadership, and University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Juan Carlos Araiza, Ph.D., P.E.
SVP, Large Complex Loss and Global Practice Lead
Dr. Araiza is responsible for large and complex loss engineering and EFI Global international. Dr. Araiza has over twenty years of design, construction, research, and technical leadership experience related to the evaluation of existing structures, forensic engineering, and expert witness services. He also has extensive experience with structural dynamics and advanced finite element modeling applied to failure analysis. He has led the forensic investigation of some of the most significant structural collapses in the US for the last few years, including the 2024 collapse of the Francis Key Scott Bridge in Baltimore, the 2018 collapse of the FIU Bridge in Miami, and the 2019 collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans.
Dr. Araiza holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering. His experience includes failure investigations of a wide variety of buildings, transportation, water, and power facilities in the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia. He is an active member of the ASCE Forensic Engineering Division and ACI Committee 444 on Structural Health Monitoring. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the States of Texas, Florida, California, Maryland, Arkansas, and in Mexico.
As Senior Vice President and Global Practice Lead with EFI Global, Juan Carlos and the Large Loss Practice provide world-class engineering consulting services on large and complex property losses to facility owners, insurance carriers and re-insurers, independent adjusters, and attorneys worldwide.

Andy is an environmental scientist who worked for the Environment Agency in water resource protection for 5 years then for 15 years for one of the biggest spill response and environmental specialists in the UK, latterly as the Operations Director, UK and Ireland.
He has personally controlled or managed many thousands of remediation projects in the UK and globally from high net worth domestic oil spills, to commercial spills incidents involving multi-million £ liabilities and several expert witness cases in Court.
