Joseph “Joe” Kelley began his career as a volunteer firefighter for the Henry County Fire Department in 1982. He would continue to serve Henry County for 37 years until he retired in 2019. During his time with Henry County he completed all necessary training and education to achieve the position of Firefighter/EMT and then Firefighter/Paramedic.
He continued to work his career path with Henry County by being promoted to the positions of Fire Inspector/Investigator, Lieutenant Inspector/Investigator, Battalion Chief of Prevention, and then to Assistant Chief of Prevention. He continued to meet the qualifications and educational requirements to remain certified in all aspects of the Fire Investigation field.
In addition to serving as the County Fire Marshal for the unincorporated areas of Henry County, he also served the cities of Stockbridge, Hampton and Locust Grove.
Mr. Kelley also served for 23 years as a Georgia certified Inspector, Fire Investigator and Peace Officer, as will as serving as a member of the Metro Arson Task Force with ATF. Also obtaining certification through the International Associations of Arson Investigators as Fire Investigation Technician, International Associations of Arson Investigators International Associations of Arson Investigators, Evidence Collection Technician and Fire Investigator.
