Solutions
Above all, we prioritize professionalism, impartiality, and quality in everything we do. We place a strong emphasis on communicating simply and clearly, both in reports and during meetings with clients and those affected by damage. This applies whether it’s a small project requiring a simple evaluation or a large, comprehensive, and thorough investigation. Both our building inspectors and our laboratory are equipped with the technology, testing equipment, and tools necessary to provide accurate and reliable advice and reporting.
Building Inspections
Our independent building inspections and consulting services reflect our team’s extensive technical expertise. We strive to conduct our inspections and provide analyses and guidance at the highest professional level, and to present our findings in a way that is understandable and easy to use.
Building inspections can be used for:
- Preliminary inspection prior to renovation or purchase/sale
- Determining the extent of damage
- Determining the cause of damage
- Quality assurance of remedial work
- Indoor climate and environmental issues
- Project review
Laboratory Analyses
Our laboratory in Kolding is the largest in Northern Europe and specializes in the analysis of mold, fungi, and insects, as well as environmentally hazardous substances.
Our trained laboratory technicians analyze samples in the following areas:
- Mold – Mycometer test, imprint samples, tape, and material samples
- Fungi/insects – Samples of decayed wood that can identify fungal or insect species
- Bacteria – Various types of samples for identifying bacterial species.
- Moisture – Measurement of moisture content in material samples, e.g., concrete or masonry.
- Asbestos – Material samples that can determine the presence of asbestos

Courses
In our teaching, we strive to provide learners a fundamental understanding of the subject, as well as practical knowledge and experience that they can apply in their daily work.
Many of our courses are conducted in collaboration with insurance companies, housing associations, claims service providers, and contractors. We also give guest lectures at educational institutions and develop courses in collaboration with other organizations, such as the Confederation of Danish Industry and Ejendom Danmark.
Areas of Expertise
The combination of experienced building inspectors and a professional laboratory enables us to thoroughly identify the problem. We draw on Danish tradition when it comes to the clear identification of mold, wood-destroying fungi, and insects, while also ensuring innovative laboratory development and up-to-date expertise through collaboration with leading European and Scandinavian research institutes. Knowledge sharing is our strength.
Wood-Degrading Fungi and Insects
Fungi and insects can cause wood in buildings to decay. Infestations of dry rot and wood-boring beetles can cause extensive damage.
We have specialized knowledge in the identification, laboratory analysis, and remediation of fungal and insect damage, as well as in wood as a building material.
Moisture and Mold
Mold is caused by moisture and can develop for many reasons. Even when it is hidden, high levels of mold in a building can affect indoor air quality.
Other factors can also impair indoor air quality. Thorough investigations and subsequent laboratory analyses conducted by EFI Global’s experts with specialized knowledge can be crucial to protecting indoor air quality.

Construction Engineering and Building Physics
EFI Global solves complex problems related to construction engineering and building physics. Our experienced specialists have in-depth knowledge of the industry and specialized expertise in materials, building components, and investigative methods.
Inspection and appraisal cases are conducted based on extensive knowledge of construction engineering and building physics.
Environmentally Hazardous Substances & Environmental Studies
The presence of environmentally hazardous substances (e.g., PCBs, asbestos, and heavy metals) in buildings can affect indoor air quality in residential and commercial spaces.
If you suspect that these substances are present during renovation and demolition projects, they must be identified and disposed of properly, and the air quality must be tested to ensure safety.
EFI Global’s team of specialists can assist with taking samples, analyzing them in the laboratory, and developing a plan for remediation and disposal.
