Donald Peak

Vice President, West Region

Mr. Peak retired from Lakewood/Bancroft Fire Authority as an Assistant Chief. His duties included Staff Officer, A Shift District Commander and Assistant Chief of Fire Investigation Division. He was employed with Bancroft from February 1, 1972 to August 1, 1994. Mr. Peak finished an 8,000 hour apprenticeship program and was promoted to First Grade Firefighter in 1975. He was promoted to Engineer in 1976, Lieutenant in 1979, Captain in 1983, and Assistant Chief in 1985. All promotions were through Civil Service Examination. While at the fire department, Mr. Peak completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science Technology, with a minor in Fire Administration.

Prior to the partnership with Unified Investigations and Sciences, Mr. Peak was President, Co-founder and Operations Manager with Phoenix Investigations and Engineering, Inc. Phoenix was established in 1981 to conduct fire, failure, and fraud investigations for insurance companies and attorneys. After serving as Territorial Manager of Unified’s Rocky Mountain Service Center for over a year, he was promoted to the VP of the Western Region for Unified Investigations & Sciences. Mr. Peak has personally investigated over 1,900 fires and supervised hundreds of investigations. He is qualified as an expert in all aspects of fire investigation several times in the District Courts of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana, and is qualified as an expert in both U.S. District and County Courts. Mr. Peak has taught fire investigation at seminars, fire department recruit academies, and was involved on the training committee of the Jefferson County Arson Task Force. Mr. Peak graduated from the Denver Police Academy and was commissioned with the Sheriff’s Department during his Fire Service Career. Mr. Peak has taught several seminars and since 1981 has conducted numerous fraud and surveillance investigations. He became a State and Internationally Certified Fire Investigator in June of 1989 and has currently re-certified through May of 2019. He became a Nationally Certified Fire Investigator in February of 1991.

Training and Education
Mr. Peak has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science Technology, with a minor in Fire Administration from Columbia Pacific University.

Mr. Peak is a graduate of the Denver Police Academy, and the National Fire Academy Fire and Arson investigation Class. Mr. Peak has attended hundreds of hours of specialized training in Fire Investigation, Wild Fire Investigation, Vehicle fire Investigation, Fire Dynamics, Thermodynamics, 921 and 1033, building construction, codes and ordinances, interviews and interrogation, and subrogation and litigation.
