EFI Global Canada appoints Steve Starna as senior professional geoscientist
EFI Global has appointed Steve Starna to its operations as senior professional geoscientist in Canada.
Starna’s strong technical expertise has led to the successful completion of hundreds of remedial projects throughout Canada, including the application of in situ, ex situ, risk assessment and bioremediation clean-up approaches and technologies.
For the last 20 years, Starna has worked on the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites. Since 2008, he has focused on assessing and remediating hydrocarbon spills for the insurance industry. Starna obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in geology and a Master of Science degree in geochemistry from McGill University.
“We are thrilled to be working with Steve as he was instrumental in the growth and development of our Montreal operations, and we are excited about building on the same success in Alberta,” said Kevin Burgher, vice president, EFI Global, Canada.

Sedgwick names Michael Holden president of Canadian operations
Following the finalization of its strategic acquisition of Cunningham Lindsey, Sedgwick—a premier global provider of technology-enabled business solutions in the risk and benefits services space—announced that Michael Holden will serve as president of its combined business operations in Canada.
Since 2016, Holden has led Sedgwick and subsidiary Vericlaim’s operations and business expansion in Canada. During his 30-year career, he has worked in all aspects of insurance, brokerage and claims management, including loss adjusting, underwriting and business development. He previously served as CEO of Granite Claims Solutions, a company he helped to transform from a small business into a leading national Canadian provider.
Holden is a member of the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters, Insurance Institute of Canada, Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association, and the Canada and Ontario Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS).

Kevin Burgher appointed Vice President of EFI Global Canada
Cunningham Lindsey is pleased to announce the promotion of Kevin Burgher to Vice President of EFI Global Canada. Kevin has been part of the Cunningham Lindsey team for over 20 years, during which time he has remained an integral part in product development, marketing and the expansion on EFI Global across Canada, proving himself to be a committed company advocate.
Kevin presents extensive experience in managing basic to complex high profile remediation projects. Since joining Cunningham Lindsey he has managed numerous different residential, commercial and transportation remediation projects.
Kevin is a Graduate of Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science, holds his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and is a recognized Environmental Practitioner (EP). His overall understanding and the ability to motivate his team has led to his continued success.
EFI Global Opens a New Office in British Columbia, headed up by Jubilee Cacaci
EFI Global is pleased to announce our new office location in Golden, British Columbia headed up by Mrs. Jubilee Cacaci, MSc., EP, A.Ag. Jubilee Cacaci is an Environmental Technologist with over 20 years of industry experience. She possesses a BSc in Environmental Science, and an MSc in Environment and Management and will report to Kevin Burgher, Director of National Environmental Services.
Jubilee’s project experience includes environmental advising for the Oil & Gas industry, meeting regulatory and guideline requirements, drilling waste management, releases, sampling and reporting, wildlife and ecology assessments and monitoring, water quality and acquisition, rig and construction advising and monitoring plans.
She has also participated in the environmental monitoring for major civil infrastructure construction projects in sensitive habitats regulated by municipal, provincial and federal bodies. Jubilee has performed pre- and post- construction site assessments, environmental field reports, soils assessments and the resource components of environmental impact assessments for major projects. She possesses experience directing the excavation of contaminated soils at industrial sites and is competent with soil and water sampling. Her regulatory experience outside of construction management consists of water application requirements for residential, industrial and agricultural uses and resource development guidelines for crown lands, forestry, wildlife and aquatic resources.
Jubilee started with EFI Global in July of this year. “With a location right in the Canadian Rockies it will allow EFI Global to provide better response times to transportation losses that occur in high frequencies locations like the Coquihalla Highway and Rogers Pass areas, states Kevin Burgher. “Along with Jubilee’s wealth of experience and local knowledge, we are very excited about this new location and Jubilee joining our team”.

EFI Global Canada appoints Russell Finley as Senior Professional Geoscientist and Hydrogeologist
EFI Global is pleased to announce the appointment of Russell Finley as Senior Professional Geoscientist and Hydrogeologist. Russell is based in the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office in Canada and will report to Kevin Burgher, Director of National Environmental Services.
Russell has previously served as an expert witness for various clients and provides geological and hydrogeological input for projects as required with extensive experience of over 35 years in hydrology, remediation, audits and assessments. Additionally Mr Finley has used computer modelling techniques to study groundwater flow and transport, including aquifer analysis and evaluation.
Russell started his new position at EFI Global in March this year and since then has been assisting the EFI Global team across Canada team in contaminant migration recovery programs, aquifer studies, in-situ treatment options, Phase I & Phase II studies, various remedial projects and other related groundwater activities.
Celebrating the arrival of Russell, Kevin Burgher said: “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of both geology and hydrogeology and how it relates to projects; his experience is a great addition to the team, we are pleased to have him on board.”
