Mr. Doughty earned his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law, and his Bachelor of Science in Fire Science, from Providence College. Additionally, he is a member of the adjunct faculty of the fire science program at both Providence College and the Community College of Rhode Island.
Mr. Doughty’s professional career includes over 30 years with the Fire Department in the City of Providence, Rhode Island. During that time, his career progressed from firefighter, arson squad task force member, to managing the activities and staff within the Arson Squad and Fire Investigation Unit.
As the Officer-in-Charge of the Arson Squad, his responsibilities included supervising investigative staff, coordinating investigations with federal and local officials, and conducting cause and origin investigations for residential and commercial fires. In addition, as a law enforcement officer he interviewed and interrogated arson suspects, executed search and arrest warrants, and testified in the prosecution of state and federal arson cases.
Mr. Doughty has been employed as fire investigator with EFI Global since 2019. Prior to EFI Global he worked as a fire consultant for two years at another international fire investigation firm. Over that time, he has investigated numerous residential, commercial, and motor vehicles fires. He has experience in both first party and liability losses. Additionally, he also is HAZWOPER certified enabling him to work on scenes contaminated with hazardous materials.
