Mr. Garza has nearly 14 years of engineering design, and forensic engineering experience. He has working knowledge and experience in civil/structural design and analysis, civil/structural condition evaluation and assessment, procurement, engineering management, inspection, construction administration and management, land surveying, cost estimating and budget control, and implementing quality and control procedures.
Mr. Garza has designed a variety of structures, including commercial and municipal buildings, marine and waterfront facilities, and industrial facilities (including oil refineries and chemical plants). He has also worked on minor roadway projects. He has been involved in all aspects of planning, permitting, design/engineering (using all applicable codes and regulations), estimating, and inspections during construction for a varied range of projects. Specifically, his experience includes the design, analysis, evaluation, and/or modification/addition of steel canopies and buildings, ADA sidewalks and ramps, grading and drainage, building expansion, various steel support structures, shallow and deep concrete foundations, steel deep foundations, simple and complex concrete structures, and steel/concrete waterfront structures.
Because of his structural design experience, Mr. Garza is well qualified to evaluate building design and construction processes for code compliance, performance compliance, and strength/safety compliance. His project management expertise gives him the ability to identify the cause and origin of structural damages and failures, detect design deficiencies or construction defects, and evaluate standard of care issues for engineers and contractors. In both residential and commercial buildings, he is capable of evaluating structural damage caused by storm, fire, vibration, and other perils, and can assist in determining sources of moisture intrusion.
