Mr. Hurd has twenty-four years of fire service experience, sixteen of which have been directly associated in the field of fire and explosion investigations.  Mr. Hurd has investigated over 1000 fire scenes either individually or part of a team.  These investigations have included single and multi-family complexes, fatalities, multi-million-dollar losses and environmental crimes.  Mr. Hurd has worked with multiple agencies to include the Virginia State Police, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other police agencies and private investigators.  Mr. Hurd is a State Certified Instructor (Level II).  He has been an adjunct instructor at Roanoke Regional Training Academy since 2004.  Mr. Hurd has instructed in fields relating to determining origin and cause, sprinklers and fire suppression systems, and various other fire suppression techniques.
