    Donald is a licensed critical care paramedic with numerous emergency response and hazardous materials (HazMat) certifications. In his role as a flight paramedic for helicopter emergency medical services (EMS),
    Don is responsible for pre-hospital advanced life support including health assessment, triage, and treatment for critical patients. He is the outreach coordinator and the in-service trainer for educating
    hospitals and fire rescue services on helicopter EMS.

    Don was a firefighter for over 32 years and held the roles of paramedic lieutenant, fire lieutenant, technical rescue/HazMat team leader and EMS field supervisor. He provided fire education to the public
    and presented on fire safety and response. He inspected buildings, facilities, and various types of property for fire hazards and fire safety compliance. His duties included fire suppression, fire investigation
    and origin, rescue, EMS, and HazMat response. Don trained and mentored new firefighter/paramedic recruits and was an EMS preceptor. He also was an EMS liaison to surrounding fire stations, first
    responder groups and hospitals.

    As a State of Wisconsin certified EMS Instructor II, Don taught classes at the Milwaukee Area Technical College for paramedics, advanced emergency medical technicians (AEMTs), EMTs, and emergency
    medical responders (EMRs). He instructed students in the areas of critical thinking, teamwork, and EMS techniques. His students became prepared for the practical and written National Registry Exam. Don managed the classroom, laboratory, equipment and supplies and field preceptorship. He had a big part in developing the EMS curriculum for the college and advised EMS students to help them succeed.

    Don has held the role of an emergency triage officer at a hospital and an EMT at an ambulance company. He was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT and led a dive team. He is very handy and has done construction and remodeling work as a carpenter.

    In his current role as a forensic engineering technician, Donald assists with fire investigations, laboratory analysis of evidence, and engineering evaluations of projects. Don is responsible for receiving evidence at the EFI Milwaukee Lab and documenting, storing and maintaining the evidence items. He also performs field work at client sites for data collection, sampling and evidence gathering.
