Charles Jones is an experienced professional public servant with over 20 years of service. In 2001, he started at the Potter County Sheriff’s Office and promoted to a senior Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Unit. As an investigator, he was responsible for crime scene investigations including juvenile offenses, officer involved shootings, homicides and arsons, evidence collection and storage, and courtroom preparation and testimony. He testified in court numerous times and qualified as a subject matter expert in origin and cause, ballistic wound patterns, injury pattern expert, blood spatter, and fingerprint analysis.

Charles became a licensed arson investigator through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection in 2012. He was the only arson investigator for Potter County for 4 years. In 2016 he became a full-time arson investigator for the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office where he conducted over 500 investigations to date that have included structure fire, vehicle fire, and wildland fire.
