Mr. Thomas is a Senior Principal Engineer in EFI’s Large/Complex Loss Group. He has more than 39 years of experience in structural engineering design and has provided a wide range of forensic/investigation related services. The forensic/investigation services include cause and origin, scope of damages, scope of repairs, repair protocols, and building code analysis. He has performed investigations for structural failures and collapses, construction and design defects, the standard of care for design professionals, and the investigation and assessment of damage due to chemicals and fires for commercial and industrial structures.
Mr. Thomas specializes in commercial and residential damage assessments due to wind, hail, and fire. Forensic services include cause and origin of roof covering damage, scope of damage, scope of repairs, repair protocols, and repair versus replacement analysis.
Commercial design experience includes the design of various types of structures including office buildings, schools, and sport facilities.
