Brian L. LaFollette, P.E. has a wide range of electrical engineering and construction experience acquired over more than 30 years of increasing responsibility in sectors including residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, electric utility distribution, transmission, substation and power plants. Mr. LaFollette was project manager and designated contracting officer for large construction projects such as the 174 MW Almond II Power Plant. Mr. LaFollette was involved in the electrical protection of utility electrical facilities including fault and coordination studies, and specification and application of protective devices, and developing settings for fusing, line reclosers, and station relay settings. He has applied and is knowledgeable of numerous codes and standards and was responsible for developing in-house standards and rules for a public electric utility. He has provided testimony to the California Energy Commission (CEC), and has substantially interacted with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and several other local, state, and federal agencies, boards, and authorities. Mr. LaFollette had responsibility for the Environmental Health and Safety Division for much of his utility career, conducting & coordinating safety training, developing safety standards/policies, and related functions. Mr. LaFollette also performed and oversaw electrical origin and cause investigations in the electrical utility industry. Mr. LaFollette was designated to act on behalf of the utility in settlement negotiations of litigation and potential litigation and make technical recommendations to the utility board.
