Michael Gillissie served as a full-time firefighter with the City of Cleveland since November of 1996 until his retirement in February of 2023.  He held the rank of Captain and was assigned as the Officer in Charge of the Fire Investigation Unit.  The Cleveland Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit conducts an average of 550 investigations every year.  These investigations involve automobile and structure fires of either intentional or undetermined causes.  He is currently a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators.  He currently holds the State of Ohio Certification as a Firefighter II, Paramedic, EMS Instructor, Fire Instructor and Live Fire Instructor (0079402).  He also holds a current State of Ohio License as a Registered Nurse (RN 308036).
