Summary:

Our environmental experts performed construction management for hazardous materials abatement, building demolition and site clearing project for a 49 building residential development scheduled for rehabilitation and reuse. This 1-year project involved the abatement of asbestos-containing building materials, building demolition and disposal, and land clearing activities. Our team was responsible for overseeing a comprehensive hazardous materials survey of the buildings, development of abatement and demolition specifications and bid documents, contractor oversight, scheduling, budget management and project administration. Our efforts were instrumental in providing turn-key services to the client including pre-demolition asbestos-containing material and lead paint surveys, abatement and demolition specifications, bid and contract documents, and abatement and demolition oversight and air monitoring.

Though not a LEED-certified project, much of the property’s materials, including brick, were removed and recycled before demolition occurred to support the client’s environmental advocacy. We also provided on-site solutions for abatement of concealed pipe insulation within buildings and underground transite piping and exterior stucco. Our environmental team completed this project on time and under budget, thereby allowing the developer to begin re-development of the site ahead of schedule.
