Fire origin and cause investigation of a marine fishing vessel

Summary

EFI Global was engaged to conduct a fire scene assessment following a large explosion on a marine fishing vessel. Over a period of two days, a complete exterior and interior examination was conducted of the marine fishing vessel to include the following: hull, main deck, galley deck, bunk deck, wheelhouse, cargo compartment, engine room and the electrical system. Ignition sources and combustibles were thoroughly investigated and interviews were conducted with the owner of the vessel, as well as those who discovered the fire.
